DIY Activated Charcoal Purifying Face Mask

I'm new to the world of activated charcoal, but it's clear the stuff is definitely having a moment. After doing a little research, I realized it's pretty incredible! It absorbs impurities, toxins, and chemicals and can either be consumed internally (thinking of testing out some charcoal lemonade) or externally on the skin, like this mask. It also makes a great natural teeth whitener, ironically enough. I haven't tried it out for myself yet but it's definitely on my list.

This recipe is great because all you have to do is mix up the dry ingredients and anytime you feel like giving your skin a little extra attention, just mix a scoop up with the wet ingredients and you're on your way to purer skin. And each ingredient in this mask is a powerhouse for creating clearer, happier skin. My skin felt clean and fresh after using it so I hope you give it a try and love it, too!

DIY Activated Charcoal Purifying Face Mask

1 T face mask mix (recipe below)
2 t organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar
2 t alcohol-free witch hazel (Thayer's with Rose is my fave)
3 drops tea tree oil

Stir the face mask mix, vinegar, toner, and tea tree oil together in a non-reactive (non-metal) bowl and non-reactive spoon until a paste forms. Spread evenly over face, being careful not to get in your eyes. Allow the mask to fully dry before you rinse it off with warm water, about half an hour.

Mix
1/2 c organic bentonite clay
16 capsules activated charcoal (about 4 teaspoons)

Empty the charcoal capsules in a non-reactive (non-metal) bowl. Add in the bentonite clay and stir to combine, using a non-reactive spoon. Store in a glass jar.

What The Mask does:

Activated Charcoal | purifies the skin, pulling out toxins, chemicals, and impurities

Bentonite Clay | also pulls out toxins, provides high concentration of minerals like magnesium, iron, potassium, and iron
Apple Cider Vinegar | exfoliates and helps to balance pH level of skin

Witch Hazel | soothes inflammation and clears blemishes

Tea Tree Oil | aids in clearing acne and fights bacteria
