DIY Coco Rose Body Polish
I love to swipe on a rose lip balm before bed each night. But the one I happen to love is unfortunately full of terrible ingredients so I've been on a mission to find a non-toxic replacement. I finally found one the other day by Herbivore Botanicals, and I love it! It's creamy and moisturizing and smells of rose. On my hunt, I also came across this coco rose body polish, which I was totally inspired to recreate myself and thought it just so happens to also be the perfect, last-minute Mother's Day gift! Cause did you know it's this Sunday?! Wow, Summer is going to be here before we know it.
This body polish is very simple to make and I bet you have most of the ingredients already. The scrub gets its pretty, pale blush hue from the pint salt and I added some dried rose petals since I accidentally bought a 2 pound bag. I think I'll have it forever. They just make the polish a little prettier but they're totally optional. The scrub is incredibly moisturizing thanks to the coconut oil and has such a pretty and light scent from the rose oil. The salt and sugar act as the perfect, gentle exfoliant, and its the perfect time to make a batch as it's just about sandal season!
So show your mom some love and make her feel pampered by whipping her up a jar! Or even just for yourself (I made an extra one for me :) ).
DIY Coco Rose Body Polish
1/4 c organic virgin (unrefined) coconut oil, melted and cooled slightly
1/2 c Himalayan pink salt
1 t rosewater or 15 drops rose or geranium essential oil
2 T raw sugar
1 T dried rose petals (culinary grade) (optional)
small jar
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the salt and sugar and mix to incorporate. Add in the coconut oil and rosewater or rose essential oil and mix thoroughly, until the texture is close to wet sand. Spoon up the mixture into a jar and sprinkle a few dried rose petals on top. Add a cute label and wrap it up for mom! Or keep for yourself!
